Srinagar, October 16: Top LeT Commander is trapped in an encounter at Drangal Pampore area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, the police said.

Quoting Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar, the Kashmir Zone police tweeted, “LeT commander amongst top 10 militants namely Umar Mustaq Khandey who was involved in killing of two police personnel at Baghat Srinagar & other mikitancy crimes trapped in Pampore Encounter,”.

Earlier Reports said that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Pampore in wee hours.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.(GNS)
