Srinagar, Apr 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) Wednesday withdrew the syllabi concession that was given to the students appearing in the various board examinations in the previous academic year in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The board, however, said that all the upcoming exams will be held as per the ongoing scheme.
The BOSE Director Academics, Farooq Ahmad Peer said, “All the concessions and relaxations which were being given to students previously due to COVID-19 pandemic for sitting in various board examinations are hereby withdrawn.”
“Accordingly, it is notified for the information of all concerned that henceforth all the Board examinations shall be conducted as per the actual scheme of examination, without any relaxation of whatsoever nature,” he said.
Earlier in 2021, BOSE had announced syllabi relaxation of thirty percent for annual regular examinations of 10th to 12th standard in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic.
The BOSE had said that in view of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, students appearing in the forthcoming annual-regular examinations of 2020-21 of classes 10th, 11th, and 12th of Kashmir division, winter zone of Jammu division and Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh and annual-regular examination 2021-22 in summer zone areas of Jammu division shall have to attempt only 70 percent of marks from the question paper which shall be treated as 100 percent.
The question papers were set from the entire syllabus prescribed for the session. However, the students were asked to attempt questions having a weightage of 70 percent marks instead of attempting all the questions.
“The marks obtained by students who attempt less than 70 percent from the question paper shall be raised proportionately while the subjects having no practical course, the question paper shall be of 100 marks and the student has to attempt questions with a total of 70 marks,” BOSE said in the previous academic year.
